It’s my first WWW Wednesday of the year! (And hopefully not my last!) Honestly, it feels good to be back… even if I haven’t been doing much reading lately. That will hopefully change as the year goes on! Also… I meant to finish this post HOURS ago but my one-hour nap turned into a four-hour nap and I woke up at 12:43am on 01/10… so sorry? 🙈
ANYWAY, WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking On A World of Words. Anyone can participate by answering the three questions below and then posting a link to your post from your blog on her website, or if you don’t have a blog, just answer the questions on her post.
The three questions (Ws) are:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
The covers all link back to their respective Goodreads pages, so feel free to check the books out… and here we go!
What are you currently reading?
“Family Trust” – So… I took this book on my Asia trip AND to PA for the holidays, yet I didn’t have any time (or incentive) to finish this book. But, it’s been rather good and relatively interesting so far! I’m almost done and I’ve really enjoyed the storyline – especially Fred’s! But, Kate’s story is slowly picking up – WHAT HAS HER HUSBAND BEEN DOING?! (Seriously!)
“#FashionVictim” – I was going to choose this as my BOTM a few months ago, but ended up choosing “November Road” and “The Silence of the Girls.” I’m rather glad I ended up not choosing this book as it’s not as entertaining as I thought it’d be. But I’m going to finish this book! Even if it is kind of weird in the beginning.
“Forsaken (Fall of Angels 02)” – I think the “Fall of Angels” trilogy was the first supernatural series I read after the “Harry Potter” series. It’s still a series I turn to when I want something emotional and filled with magical realism – and it doesn’t hurt that the male interest is seriously “sa-woooon”-worthy.
“Girls in White Dresses” – I first read this book ages ago when it was originally published, but I’ve recently had a weird-ish want to read it again. I’m kind of in the mood for books about female friendship. Maybe this time around I’ll like it more? (Or just not be so apathetic about it?)
What did you recently finish reading?
Since I haven’t blogged in a while, these are actually books I (finally) finished in November and December. 🤷🏻♀️
“Scrappy Little Nobody” – I LOVE Anna Kendrick, and her memoir is rather funny, so I tend to pick it up when I need a lighthearted but still rather real read.
“Branded (Fall of Angels 01)” – I’m not sure what it is about this series, but I absolutely LOVE it. I try to reread it once a year – doesn’t always happen, but I do try. I may just have a soft spot for it because it’s the first series I ever bought for my kindle! Plus, who doesn’t love a “sa-woooon” worthy male interest? (And angels!)
“Ragnarok Unwound” – My first NetGalley and WOW. SO GOOD. I love mythology, and I liked how this book was focused on Norse mythology – something people tend to ignore (until Thor came out… but still nobody remembers any of the actual stories). My only problem with this is that it’s the first book in a series, and I HATE WAITING.
“Suck It, Wonder Woman!” – I had planned on doing a “Mini Review Saturday: celebrity memoirs” roundup, and then ended up not reading… so yeah. But, I’ve had Olivia Munn’s memoir on my to-read list for AGES, so it was nice to finally read it. Rather interesting too – I’m 99% sure I wasn’t the target demographic when it came to this book.
“Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History” – I actually read this when it was first published and LOVED it. If you followed any part of the 2016 election, especially any part involving Donald Trump, you would’ve heard of Katy Tur. Unfortunately (or fortunately?), I was so tired of watching nominee coverage that I just stopped, so I hadn’t heard of Katy Tur until I read her memoir… and WOW is it a doozy.
What do you think you’ll read next?
“The Song of Achilles” – I would like to make it through my unread Book of the Month picks next, but I also have a thing where I can’t read a new book by an author without reading their related previous works. So, even though “Circe” was my very first BOTM pick, I’m going to read Madeline Miller’s first book… and then probably her second and then finally “Circe.” Probably.
“Spinning Silver” – This has been on my TBR list for SO long – literally since I finished “Uprooted” and decided on getting “Spinning Silver” as my BOTM! (Ok, so not really as long as other books I’ve had on my list, but still!) DETERMINED TO READ IT THIS MONTH. FINALLY. Also, who doesn’t love fairy tale retellings? I mean seriously.
“The Silence of the Girls” – Another BOTM pick, and another Greek mythology retelling. I just absolutely love mythology and fairy tales, so I am ALWAYS up for a retelling… even if I don’t remember everything about “The Iliad.” Maybe I should reread that too?
So… this WWW Wednesday may be a bit late because of my lovely nap… and the fact that I went down a Goodreads TBR rabbit hole after reorganizing my list… but IT’S DONE. I guess this means I’m officially back and blogging? Here’s hoping my blogging momentum continues – after all, what’s the phrase again? It takes 21 days to build a habit? Oof.
